We're on THE Map

National Geographic produced the Geotourism Map guide to Guatemala.  The concept is Nat Geo's version of Eco-Tourism, here the enphasis is on Geography, the space that contains a people, their cultures, landscapes, arts, crafts, produce of the land and surprisingly little of the Ecology and Wildlife.  Nevertheless we are proud to be included as a "destination" place to stay and visit.  For years we have been promoting the production of tourist maps, road maps and cruising charts,  the objective is to keep our visitors informed. see other posts on this blog.  Nat Geo's map is the ultimate authority on mapping,  since I was a child I looked forwards to receiving the Monthly magazine as my father was subscribed.  I particularly like the large foldout Maps of regions, countries and continents but most of all the map of the solar system and stars were the ones that caused the most awe in me.  Later National Geographic proposed the Ruta Maya project which practically created the trail of visitors to Northern Yucatan with he Post Classic sites, Belize with their Barrier Reef, Guatemala with Tikal, Rio Dulce, Quirgua Antigua and Atitlan, the Living Mayans.. and much More..
Thank you National Geographic!!
