Gratitud por Subasta-Evento en Beneficio de Ecorio

Ecorio’s Benefit Auction at Mario’s Jan. 23rd, 2009

Yesterday after hearing from Jim and Roy of the results from the auction http://riodulcechisme.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 I called to Ecorio Board members to give them the good news and we were all pleasantly surprised but mostly full of gratitude. Surprised at the big turnout and grateful for the very generous ways that everyone contributed, the ball park figure mentioned will allow us to operate without worry for many months and continue both with the normal activities and the “Plan de Patrullaje Acuatico” on the Rio Dulce area.

We are also want to express our most heartfelt gratitude to the Mario’s marina staff particularly Jim, Cindy, Marco and of course his kitchen crew while also giving them a big commendation for their efficient execution of the whole operation all the while making it a fun filled event for all those present.

A big thanks to the Riodulcechisme.com “Staph” for their infectious optimism, their freely given time and energy to make the event known, their incessant search for the “truth”; the “best Hamburger on the Rio” , for staying on top of it the whole time and afterwards as well with the follow up articles… all this without spilling their wine…..

Mostly I want to thank the people that showed up, contributed, bought “T” shirts, lassoed with Butchie the Cowboy, the guests from all the other Marinas because “Y’all” made this possible and made it happen! Truly in these times of “Obamamania” the whole exercise was an example of how typically Americans are “Can Do” people, generous and principled.

I know some will jump and say why we were there and we’re not Americans! Not true says I: American is anyone from or resident in the Continent of America which goes from the North Pole, Canada, passing through French speaking Quebec, the USA, Spanish speaking Latin America from Rio Grande, Mexico all the way down to Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego, Portuguese Brazil and all the other assorted Native, Creole, and God only knows how many lost tribes in the Amazon or varied ethnic groups and multicultural Islands in the Caribbean are here. We are all “Americans”, our ancestors are from all over this beautiful planet and I hope some day we all come to realize this.

I also hope someday we will all be as generous, organized and aware of the environmental issues at stake as our ”American “ friends from north of the Rio Grande. Again Thank You! Gracias! Merci Beaucoup! Muito Obrigado! for giving your time and money but mostly for your example…..
